Dishwasher not cleaning dishes well

Symptoms

What to do

2. Run the kitchen faucet nearest the dishwasher on hot until it's steaming before starting a cycle, so the first fill is already hot.
3. Switch to a fresh, sealed pack of dishwasher pods or powder and avoid regular dish soap, which causes oversudsing.
4. Load dishes so nothing blocks the spray arms' rotation and large pots don't shadow other items.
5. Run a cleaning cycle with a dishwasher cleaner or a cup of white vinegar in a bowl on the top rack to cut grease buildup.
6. Check that the spray arms spin freely by hand when reinstalled and are not cracked or wobbly.
7. If cleaning and using hot water don't help, have a technician check the wash pump and water inlet temperature.
