Symptoms
- Watch doesn't show up in the Find My or companion app map
- Location shown is old or last-known rather than current
- Watch shows offline in the tracking app
- Ping/sound feature doesn't trigger a response
Likely causes
- CommonWatch out of Bluetooth or Wi-Fi range of any connected deviceMost watches need a nearby network of some kind to report a live location.
- CommonTracking feature never enabled before the watch was lostThis must usually be turned on in advance in the companion app.
- PossibleWatch battery died before it could report a locationA dead watch can't transmit its position.
- Less commonWatch was reset or unpaired before being lostA lost device that's been factory reset may no longer report to your account.
What to do
- Open the companion app or Find My-style feature immediately and check the last reported location.
- Try the 'play sound' or ping feature if you think it's nearby, like under furniture or in a bag.
- Mark the device as lost in the app if that option exists, which can lock it and display a message.
- Check your account for the last known location and timestamp, and think back to where you were at that time.
- If it hasn't reported a location in a long time, it's likely dead, out of range entirely, or already found by someone else.
- Change the passwords for accounts linked to the watch if you're concerned about data access.
When to call a pro
If the watch is confirmed stolen, file a police report and contact your carrier if it had cellular service, in addition to using any manufacturer lost-device tools.
