Pet water fountain isn't pumping water

Symptoms

• No water movement or sound from the fountain
• Pump hums but water doesn't flow
• Weak trickle instead of the normal flow
• Fountain worked fine until recently

Likely causes

2. Soak all parts in a mix of water and white vinegar for 15–30 minutes to dissolve mineral buildup, then scrub gently with a soft brush.
3. Check the impeller (the small spinning piece with fins) for cracks or wear, and confirm it spins freely by hand once cleaned.
4. Replace the filter if it's due, and rinse the reservoir thoroughly to remove any pet hair or debris.
5. Refill with fresh water to the recommended level before plugging back in.
6. Test the outlet with another device if the fountain shows absolutely no sign of power.
7. If the pump still hums without moving water after cleaning, the impeller has likely failed and needs replacing.
