- Remove the tank lid and locate the mounting nut on the inside of the tank wall, behind the handle.
- Note that this nut is reverse-threaded, so tighten it by turning counterclockwise.
- Check the lift arm and chain for corrosion, bending, or tangling, and straighten or clean as needed.
- Untangle or re-hook the chain so it has a small amount of slack, not too tight or too loose.
- Test the flush and handle feel after adjustments.
- Replace the entire handle and lift arm assembly if it's cracked, corroded badly, or still doesn't work smoothly.
