Binoculars, scope, or optical gadget image is blurry

Symptoms

Likely causes

What to do

1. Clean both lenses with a proper lens cloth, never a shirt or paper towel.
2. Adjust the center focus wheel slowly until the image sharpens.
3. Set the diopter adjustment for each eye individually if your optic has one.
4. Let the device acclimate to room temperature if it was just brought in from cold or heat.
5. Check for visible internal fog or moisture between the lenses.
6. Store in a dry case with silica gel packets to prevent future fogging.
7. Have it professionally inspected if the blur is isolated to internal elements after cleaning and focus adjustment.
