Symptoms

Likely causes

What to do
- Check that the ink or toner level isn't showing empty in the printer's display or companion app.
- Remove the ink cartridge and confirm any orange or clear protective tape has been fully peeled off the bottom.
- Reseat the cartridge or toner unit firmly until it clicks into place.
- Run a nozzle check or test print from the printer's menu to see which colors, if any, are printing.
- Run the built-in print head cleaning cycle if the nozzle check shows gaps or missing colors.
- For laser printers, remove the toner cartridge, gently shake it side to side to redistribute toner, and reinsert it.
- Replace the cartridge with a fresh one if it's confirmed empty or clogging can't be cleared after two cleaning cycles.
