What to do
- Locate the air filter housing, usually a black rectangular box near the front of the engine bay with metal clips or screws.
- Open the housing and remove the filter without letting debris fall into the intake tube.
- Hold the filter up to a light source; if very little light passes through, it's due for replacement.
- Wipe out any debris inside the housing with a rag before installing a new filter.
- Install the new filter facing the correct direction (check for an airflow arrow) and close the housing securely.
- Check again at your next oil change or every 12 months, whichever comes first.
