What to do
- Confirm you're using the correct water ratio for your rice type, generally checking the markings inside the pot or a ratio guide for your specific rice variety.
- Remove the inner pot and check underneath and around the heating plate for stray grains of rice or debris preventing full contact.
- Wipe the heating plate and the center sensor button (the small raised disc in the middle of the plate) clean and dry.
- Set the inner pot back in and gently rotate it to confirm it sits flat and level, not tilted on debris.
- Inspect the bottom of the inner pot for warping, dents, or a coating that's peeling, which can prevent even heat transfer.
- If burning continues after ruling out water ratio and clean, flat pot contact, the inner pot has likely warped or the sensor has degraded, and the pot (or cooker) should be replaced.
