Symptoms

4. Examine the kettle body, especially seams and the water-level window if present, for visible cracks by holding it up to a light while empty.
5. Test by boiling a small amount of water while watching closely (from a safe distance) to see exactly where the leak originates.
6. If the kettle leaks from a body crack or leaks water toward the electrical base at all, stop using it and replace it, since this is a genuine shock hazard rather than a cosmetic issue.
