4. Turn on cold water and switch the disposal on, listening closely for a hum versus complete silence.
5. If it's silent, recheck power at the outlet and breaker.
6. If it hums with a confirmed clear flywheel, the motor has likely failed internally and needs replacement rather than another reset.
