What to do
- Keep the fuel tank at least a quarter full when mowing hills to avoid uncovering the fuel pickup.
- Check and clean or replace the air filter, and confirm fuel is fresh.
- Inspect the drive belt for glazing, cracking, or looseness and replace if worn.
- Check tire pressure and tread condition on the drive wheels.
- Avoid mowing extremely steep slopes that exceed the manufacturer's recommended incline rating, both for power and for safety.
- If power loss continues on hills with good fuel, filter, and belt, a mechanic can check overall engine output.
