- Check chain tension; loosen slightly if it feels overly tight and binding against the bar.
- Spin the sprocket by hand (with the saw off) to check that it isn't stripped or seized.
- Reassemble and test at low throttle in open air before cutting again.
- If the chain still won't move with proper tension and a clear bar, the clutch or drive mechanism likely needs professional repair.
