Leaf blower won't turn off

Symptoms

Likely causes

What to do

1. If the engine won't stop, the fastest safe action is to remove the battery, disconnect the spark plug wire, or let the fuel run out, depending on the model.
2. Once stopped, inspect the stop switch or trigger for dirt, corrosion, or physical binding.
3. Clean the switch contacts and surrounding area with a dry cloth or contact cleaner.
4. Check the throttle trigger for smooth, full-range movement without sticking.
5. For gas models, verify the wire from the stop switch to the ignition module is securely connected.
6. For electric models, test the trigger switch continuity with a multimeter if comfortable doing so.
7. Do not use the blower again until the stop function reliably shuts off the engine or motor every time.
