Drill keeps spinning after the trigger is released

Symptoms

• Bit continues rotating after you let go of the trigger
• Trigger doesn't spring back to its resting position
• Motor slowly winds down instead of stopping instantly
• Problem happens intermittently, not every time

Likely causes

What to do

1. Remove the battery or unplug the tool immediately when this happens; do not wait for it to stop on its own repeatedly.
2. Once safely powered down, inspect the trigger for visible sticking, debris, or resistance when pressed by hand.
3. Clean around the trigger with compressed air, avoiding liquid cleaners that could add more contamination.
4. Work the trigger by hand several times (with power disconnected) to see if it moves freely and springs back fully.
5. Do not use the tool again until it reliably stops the instant the trigger is released.
6. Have the trigger switch inspected and replaced by a professional if cleaning doesn't fully resolve it.
