Likely causes

- If nothing seems to transfer, first fully empty any remaining old fuel by holding the flame adjustment or fill valve open (in a well-ventilated area, away from flame) before refilling.
- Use a high-purity, well-filtered butane brand, since cheap fuel is a common cause of clogged valves.
- Wipe the valve area clean of any residue with a dry cloth before refilling.
- If fuel leaks back out right after filling, the internal rubber seal is likely worn and the lighter may not be worth repairing.
