Pipe leak at the washing machine valve

Symptoms

4. Reconnect the hoses hand-tight, then give an additional quarter turn with pliers, avoiding overtightening which can damage the threads.
5. Turn the valves back on and run a fill cycle, checking closely at each connection for leaking.
6. If the leak is coming from the valve itself rather than the hose connection, that valve's packing may need attention or the valve may need replacement.
