Symptoms

Likely causes

What to do
- Open the door and locate the hinge adjustment screws (usually two or three per hinge).
- Turn the side-to-side screw to shift the door left or right for an even gap.
- Turn the depth screw to move the door in or out so it sits flush against the frame.
- Turn the height screw to raise or lower the door if it's not level with neighboring doors.
- Tighten all mounting screws and test the door opens and closes smoothly.
- If screw holes are stripped, fill with wood glue and toothpicks, let dry, then re-drive the screw.
