Symptoms
- App shows the camera as offline or unreachable
- Live view won't load and shows a connection error
- Camera was working, then suddenly stopped responding
- Offline status started right after a router or internet change
Likely causes
- CommonWi-Fi or internet outageIf the router or modem lost internet, connected cameras will show offline even though power is fine.
- CommonCamera lost power or its cable came looseA tripped outlet, loose plug, or damaged cable will disconnect the camera immediately.
- PossibleRouter settings changed (new password, new network name, firmware update)Cameras don't automatically follow a changed Wi-Fi password or SSID and need to be reconnected.
- PossibleWeak signal at the camera's mounted locationOutdoor or far-mounted cameras are prone to marginal signal that drops under certain conditions.
- Less commonCamera hardware or Wi-Fi radio failureAfter years outdoors in weather extremes, the electronics can fail.
What to do
- Check that your home internet and Wi-Fi are working for other devices first.
- Confirm the camera's power supply is plugged in firmly and the cable isn't damaged.
- Power-cycle the camera by unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in.
- Restart your router and modem as well.
- If you recently changed your Wi-Fi password or network name, reconnect the camera through the app's setup flow.
- Check the app for a signal strength indicator and consider a Wi-Fi extender if it's weak.
- Re-add the camera from scratch in the app if it still won't reconnect after a power cycle.
When to call a pro
If the camera never comes back online after a full reset and confirmed working Wi-Fi, contact the manufacturer since the unit may have failed.
