4. Check the pedal itself for looseness at its pivot point, separate from the clutch mechanism.
5. Avoid ignoring rapidly increasing play, which can mean the clutch disc is very worn.
6. Have a mechanic inspect and adjust or replace the cable, or bleed and inspect the hydraulic system, as appropriate.
7. Consider that a full clutch replacement may be needed if the disc itself is worn thin, rather than just an adjustment.
