Hand mixer won't start

4. Unplug and manually try to turn the beaters by hand (gently) to check for jamming from stiff dough.
5. Clean around the beater sockets and the base of the mixer to remove any dried food residue.
6. If the mixer still won't start with attachments seated correctly and a working outlet, the internal motor or switch has likely failed; given the low cost of hand mixers, replacement is usually more practical than repair.
